ANDROGEN INCREASES
Typically, during puberty, individuals experience an increase of hormone levels, especially androgen (sex hormone) levels. This stimulates the sebaceous glands in the skin to make sebum, oils that make your skin moist.
SEBUM INCREASES
Excess sebum contributes to clogged pores and acts as food for acne-causing bacteria.
BACTERIA GROWS
Bacterial growth may lead to inflammation.
ACNE BREAKS OUT
The chain reaction can cause acne to appear.
Tips to help manage your acne
Don’t pop, pick or squeeze your pimples. This can distribute bacteria and invite more acne or lead to scarring
Be sure to wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning and evening, and after sweating
Avoid using abrasive cleansers such as exfoliants, and astringent products like toners, which can aggravate your acne
Wash items that come into contact with your face often, like pillowcases, hats, and makeup brushes
How does WINLEVI® cream work?
WINLEVI® belongs to a group of medicines called androgen receptor inhibitors. Although the exact way that WINLEVI® works is not known, it is thought to treat acne by blocking androgens in your skin from making too much sebum (oils that keep your skin moist).
WINLEVI® should not be used if you are allergic to clascoterone or any of the other ingredients.
